Dr. Kashi Gomez
As a scholar of South Asia, Kashi Gomez specializes in intellectual history, gender, and early modernity. Her current book project is titled Half of a Body: Gender, Desire, and Brahmins in the Eighteenth Century. The book examines two contemporaneous projects of Brahminical ideological production related to sex, gender, and desire in Maratha-ruled Tanjavur between 1676 and 1735. Dr. Gomez is the Lecturer in Sanskrit in the Department of South Asia Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
